Trip to barbican

Took a trip to the barbican where the exhibition of 30 years of fashion took place. the work of Japanese designer are astonishing, they have such connection and a personal feeling of fashion. All the garments have meaning.
Two designers from the barbican where great inspirations to my final work both. Junya Watanabe and Rei Kawakubo, there work connected with my concept of wrapped and wanted to progress my designs with the inspiration found.

Text

Looking at text, different styles and different ways in using it in art, i find it very interesting the thought of being wrapped up in your own words. This research is shown a lot in my sketch book and on my final designs.

Susan Bowman is the artist which has done the work wrapped in words.

Straight jackets

Looking at the detail in my head of wrapped as a garment. and the words associated with the word wrapped, stared to look at protection wrapped around your self for protection. all this research combined into my designs and helped create my final six designs.

designer research and muse

Kanye West
My Muse for my whole collection is Kanye West. He is a person who likes to dress to his own initiative, very creative and fashionable man who stands out from many men around him.

Warrior Wear
My research pushed me to look into Japanese warrior wear and protection, which influenced most of my final designs.

Merisa Merz
Marisa Merz an artist i discovered in a Trip to the Tate Modern, her influenced mine and added detail to my final designs.

Inspiration

I started to research artist that inspired me and my work looking into banksy and glenn ligon. stenciled work is an interesting look which is why i chose these two artist for inspiration. i came across Glenn Ligon on a trip to the tate modern.
